Hello Reader, News of the Week I have something that will change the way you move around in this busy world. There are Distractions everywhere in this world! And these distractions often lead to poor productivity and feeling overwhelmed because you can't get to everything. This week I had to go back to my 1st principles. After my 1st week of a totally new night shift routine, I was starting to feel overwhelmed with my list of things to do! I needed to get back on top of things and regain control, OR GET OVERWHELMED, FRUSTRATED and PISSED OFF! And it hit me, I didn't do my HIIIIT List for about 12 weeks! So, I took out my lil notebook. β Started with Gratitude. β Wrote down just 5 CRITICAL TASKS for the day. β 1 Big Goal for the week. β And before I went to bed, I reflected on the day! This may seem small and insignificant to you, How does a lil notebook unlock my productivity? Well, let me explain. βοΈI start everyday with Gratitude - Do you? βοΈI list just 5 critical tasks for the day! Why? There is a bit of psychology behind this... I only write down 5 critical tasks that will help me move the needle forward in my business, family, work, health. 5 things is obtainable and realistic. I don't want a to-do list of 30 items to do, because the odds of getting through it all is lower and its unsustainable. Ticking off those 5 things creates a sense of victory and belief in myself. βοΈOn a Monday I list 1 big goal for the week - this guides my decisions for the week and holds me accountable to work towards it. βοΈBefore bed - I reflect on the day, what went well and what didn't. βοΈThen, if i ticked off everything on the list - I give myself a big fuckn "W" on the page! DAY WON! βοΈAnd, at the end of the week, I review and see how many days I won! Now, do you think you can implement this simple strategy to execute daily and remove the overwhelm? β Recipe of the Week POT-ROAST BEEF WITH FRENCH ONION GRAVY Serves 8 2.2 lbs. (1kg) silverside beef 2 tbsp. olive oil salt & pepper 8 carrots, tops trimmed 1 celery stick, finely chopped 3 cups (700ml) beef broth 1 tbsp white wine vinegar 2 bay leaves 1.1 lbs. (500g) onion, thinly slice 2 thyme sprigs 1 tsp. butter 1 tsp. coconut sugar 2 tsp. all purpose flour What you need to do Heat the oven to 320Β°F (160Β°C). Rub the beef with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Heat a large ovenproof casserole dish on the stove top, and brown the beef all over for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat another 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a skillet and cook the carrots and celery for 10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove the beef from the casserole dish, onto a plate. Pour in the beef broth and white wine vinegar, and return the beef to the casserole. Now add the carrots, celery and bay leaves. Cover the casserole with a lid and cook in the oven for 2 hours turning the beef halfway through cooking. Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet and add in the onions, thyme and season with salt and pepper. Cover and bring to a gentle simmer, cooking for 20 minutes until the onions have softened. Remove the lid, turn up the heat, add the butter and coconut sugar, and let the onions caramelize to a dark golden brown, stirring often. Remove the thyme sprigs, then set aside. When the beef has finished cooking, remove the beef and the carrots from the casserole dish and set aside. Reheat the onion pan, stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Whisk the onions into the beefy juices in the casserole, to make a thick onion gravy. Check for taste and season with salt and pepper if necessary. Add the beef and carrots back to the casserole and serve. Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week This week I celebrated my 38th birthday. My family surprised me with one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received. A "5 senses" gift. Five small gifts. One for each sense. Simple. Meaningful. Perfect. Being sidelined with an injury also gave me something I don't often create enough space for: Reflection. And as I reflected on the year that was, I found myself writing this... 5...
Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week Last night I found myself lying in the emergency ward after injuring myself playing soccer... Waiting for X-rays. Waiting for answers. Waiting. And funny enough... The thing I found myself thinking about wasn't work. It wasn't money. It wasn't my goals. It wasn't the million things I still need to do. It was a moment with my boys earlier this week. arm farts Cassius had just learnt...
Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week The Push Up Challenge kicked off this week and I've already banked 442 Push Ups. Day 2's push-up target was 72. Not 70. Not 75. Seventy-two. And the reason behind it hit me harder than the push-ups themselves... 72% of men don't seek help when facing mental health challenges. Seventy-two percent. Nearly three out of every four men. If I'm being honest... I've been one of them. The guy...
