Hello Reader, News of the Week I have something that will change the way you move around in this busy world. There are Distractions everywhere in this world! And these distractions often lead to poor productivity and feeling overwhelmed because you can't get to everything. This week I had to go back to my 1st principles. After my 1st week of a totally new night shift routine, I was starting to feel overwhelmed with my list of things to do! I needed to get back on top of things and regain control, OR GET OVERWHELMED, FRUSTRATED and PISSED OFF! And it hit me, I didn't do my HIIIIT List for about 12 weeks! So, I took out my lil notebook. ➞ Started with Gratitude. ➞ Wrote down just 5 CRITICAL TASKS for the day. ➞ 1 Big Goal for the week. ➞ And before I went to bed, I reflected on the day! This may seem small and insignificant to you, How does a lil notebook unlock my productivity? Well, let me explain. ❗️I start everyday with Gratitude - Do you? ❗️I list just 5 critical tasks for the day! Why? There is a bit of psychology behind this... I only write down 5 critical tasks that will help me move the needle forward in my business, family, work, health. 5 things is obtainable and realistic. I don't want a to-do list of 30 items to do, because the odds of getting through it all is lower and its unsustainable. Ticking off those 5 things creates a sense of victory and belief in myself. ❗️On a Monday I list 1 big goal for the week - this guides my decisions for the week and holds me accountable to work towards it. ❗️Before bed - I reflect on the day, what went well and what didn't. ❗️Then, if i ticked off everything on the list - I give myself a big fuckn "W" on the page! DAY WON! ❗️And, at the end of the week, I review and see how many days I won! Now, do you think you can implement this simple strategy to execute daily and remove the overwhelm? Recipe of the Week POT-ROAST BEEF WITH FRENCH ONION GRAVY Serves 8 2.2 lbs. (1kg) silverside beef 2 tbsp. olive oil salt & pepper 8 carrots, tops trimmed 1 celery stick, finely chopped 3 cups (700ml) beef broth 1 tbsp white wine vinegar 2 bay leaves 1.1 lbs. (500g) onion, thinly slice 2 thyme sprigs 1 tsp. butter 1 tsp. coconut sugar 2 tsp. all purpose flour What you need to do Heat the oven to 320°F (160°C). Rub the beef with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Heat a large ovenproof casserole dish on the stove top, and brown the beef all over for about 10 minutes. Meanwhile, heat another 2 teaspoons of olive oil in a skillet and cook the carrots and celery for 10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove the beef from the casserole dish, onto a plate. Pour in the beef broth and white wine vinegar, and return the beef to the casserole. Now add the carrots, celery and bay leaves. Cover the casserole with a lid and cook in the oven for 2 hours turning the beef halfway through cooking. Heat the remaining tablespoon of olive oil in the same skillet and add in the onions, thyme and season with salt and pepper. Cover and bring to a gentle simmer, cooking for 20 minutes until the onions have softened. Remove the lid, turn up the heat, add the butter and coconut sugar, and let the onions caramelize to a dark golden brown, stirring often. Remove the thyme sprigs, then set aside. When the beef has finished cooking, remove the beef and the carrots from the casserole dish and set aside. Reheat the onion pan, stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute. Whisk the onions into the beefy juices in the casserole, to make a thick onion gravy. Check for taste and season with salt and pepper if necessary. Add the beef and carrots back to the casserole and serve. Go here for more tasty cooking videos 😜 Question of the Week How can you balance your work, family, and personal time more effectively? Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week Last week I kicked off a new soccer season with my new team. At 37 years old, with average technical ability… My biggest assets aren’t skill. They’re: Fitness, Energy, Leadership …and most importantly, a winning mentality. Some of the younger kids have unreal talent. I genuinely admire their skill. But when it comes to being the hardest worker in the room? They don’t come close. And...
Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week This year, I moved towns. New environment. New routines. New normal. And during that transition… I focused on my family, my fitness, and settling into work and school life. But I’ll be honest… At times, I felt like I was letting my community down. And it led me to ask a simple question: Who do you surround yourself with? ...Have you ever really thought about that? That question...
