The Lie Parents Tell Themselves

Hello Reader,

I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.

News of the Week

This week I was busy AF!!!

Last Monday, after a full day on site, I didn’t want to workout because I quite literally was “too busy” I got home later than normal, and instead of cracking open a beer and slouching on the couch, I got moving with my boys instead…

After that session I asked myself a question: Why has “being busy" become some sort of bragging right?

It should embarrass us as parents,

Look, I’m a parent too… so I get it.

But the truth is...

Being "busy" doesn't mean shit.

Life will stay “busy” if you don’t start giving yourself some sort of structure.

Anytime someone complains to me about how "busy" they are...

I think they are inefficient, and lack the ability to prioritize and execute.

being busy is not the same things as being effective.

If anything... it's the opposite.

The fit, active, strong and confident parent you want to become relies on having a plan…

It doesn't care how full your calendar is. (If you don’t create the time, something else will fill your calendar.)

It doesn't care how many tasks you give yourself. (As a parent, there’s always something to do - I know)

Your family only cares about what you do - not what you say.

...and if want to become the fit, active parent running and playing with your kids...

It really doesn't matter how much shit you cram into your day.

Take inventory of what it is you're looking to accomplish.

Create a plan.

Execute on that plan.

Fuck the rest.

Most parents stay "busy" their entire lives and never create the futures their families deserve.

Don't be like most parents.

Recipe of the Week

TURKEY & SWEET POTATO SLIDERS

Serves 4

3 sweet potatoes, sliced into ½

inch (1.25cm) rounds

3 tbsp. olive oil

For the turkey sliders:

1 lb. (450g) 94% lean ground

turkey

2 tbsp. green onion, sliced

1 egg

½ cup (55g) almond flour

½ tsp. paprika

1 tbsp. nutritional yeast

1 tbsp. tamari

1 tsp. Dijon mustard

salt & pepper to taste

What you need to do

Preheat the oven to 350F (180 C). Line a baking sheet with baking

paper.

Lay the sliced sweet potatoes on the baking sheet, drizzle with 1

tablespoon of olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Place the

baking sheet into the oven and bake the sweet potatoes for 20

minutes.

Place all the ingredients for the turkey sliders into a large bowl and

mix to combine. Using your hands shape the mixture into 8 even

sized patties.

Heat the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet over a

medium heat. Cook the patties for about 3 minutes on each side,

until browned and cooked through.

To assemble the sliders, sandwich the turkey patty in between two

sweet potato slices, adding the toppings of your choice. Serve

immediately.
