Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week Eight years ago this week, I boarded a one-way flight halfway around the world... Two days earlier, I'd seen Carter on the ultrasound. Nadine was 29 weeks pregnant with our first son... And there I was... Walking onto a fuckn plane, leaving everything we'd ever known behind. If I'm honest... I was scared as hell. Before that day in 2018, I'd never left my hometown. I'd never even left South Africa. In fact, I'd only been on a plane once before—at 29 years old—for our first wedding anniversary. So this wasn't just a flight. It was a leap into the unknown. I remember crying for the entire two-hour flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg before my international flight. I didn't take my sunglasses off once. I didn't want anyone to see. My Fear was loud. But somehow... My Faith was louder. Not because I knew what would happen. But because I trusted the One who did. The last eight years have been the greatest adventure of our lives. We became first-time parents in a country we barely knew. We navigated depression. Anxiety. Career changes. Parenthood. Loneliness. Homesickness. We raised our boys without grandparents just around the corner. No spontaneous date nights. No family to call when one of the boys got sick. There were seasons that stretched us in ways we never imagined. But through every challenge... God showed up. Every. Single. Time. He opened doors we couldn't open ourselves. He provided visas when we needed them. He surrounded us with incredible people who became family. He blessed us with two healthy boys. He carried us when we didn't have the strength to carry ourselves. Sometimes I ask myself... "If I could go back to that moment at the airport... knowing everything that was ahead... would I still get on the plane?" My first thought is usually... Probably not. Because I know how hard it would become. But then I look at our life. I look at Nadine. I look at Carter and Cassius. I think about the people we've met. The lives I've been privileged to impact. The person God has shaped and moulded me into. And my answer changes. Without hesitation. I'd do it all again. Not because it was easy. But because it was worth it. There's a verse that's stayed with me through this journey: "Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be." — Job 8:7 Looking back, I can see God's fingerprints over every chapter. Not because the road was smooth. But because He was faithful. If you're standing at the edge of a decision right now... Scared. Uncertain. Wondering whether to take the next step... Remember this: Faith isn't the absence of fear. It's choosing to trust God despite it. Eight years ago, I stepped onto a plane with tears in my eyes. Today, I look back with nothing but gratitude.
