72 push-ups that hit harder than expected

Hello Reader,

I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.

News of the Week

The Push Up Challenge kicked off this week and I've already banked 442 Push Ups.

Day 2's push-up target was 72.

Not 70. Not 75.

Seventy-two.

And the reason behind it hit me harder than the push-ups themselves...

72% of men don't seek help when facing mental health challenges.

Seventy-two percent.

Nearly three out of every four men.

If I'm being honest...

I've been one of them.

The guy who says:

"I'm fine."

The guy who tries to carry it all himself.

The guy who believes he just needs to push through.

Work harder.

Keep moving.

Stay busy.

And while there is strength in resilience...

There is also wisdom in knowing when to speak.

When to lean on someone.

When to ask for help.

As I worked through those 72 push-ups on Thursday, without rest... feeling every single push up.

I found myself thinking about something else.

My boys.

Because one day...

These two little boys I'm raising will become young men.

Men who will face pressure.

Stress.

Heartbreak.

Responsibility.

Uncertainty.

Just like every man before them.

And I started asking myself:

What example am I setting for them today?

When they look back on this season of my life...

What do I hope they remember?

I hope they remember a dad who tried.

A dad who never quit.

A dad who followed his heart.

A dad who had faith.

A dad who understood that strength isn't pretending nothing affects you.

It's learning how to deal with life's challenges in healthy ways.

For me, those outlets have been:

Movement.

Prayer.

Journaling.

Conversations.

Time in nature.

Time with family.

Because the goal isn't to avoid hard seasons.

The goal is to navigate them without losing yourself.

The world doesn't need tougher men.

It needs healthier men.

Men who can lead.

Men who can love.

Men who can be honest.

Men who can carry responsibility without carrying it alone.

Thursday was 72 push-ups.

But the real challenge wasn't physical.

It was asking myself:

What kind of man am I teaching my sons to become?

That's a question worth reflecting on.

I’m completing The Push-Up Challenge to level up mental health in Australia and would love your help to reach my fundraising target.

All funds raised will support much-needed mental health services and initiatives in Australia.

Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week This week I celebrated my 38th birthday. My family surprised me with one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received. A "5 senses" gift. Five small gifts. One for each sense. Simple. Meaningful. Perfect. Being sidelined with an injury also gave me something I don't often create enough space for: Reflection. And as I reflected on the year that was, I found myself writing this... 5...

Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week Last night I found myself lying in the emergency ward after injuring myself playing soccer... Waiting for X-rays. Waiting for answers. Waiting. And funny enough... The thing I found myself thinking about wasn't work. It wasn't money. It wasn't my goals. It wasn't the million things I still need to do. It was a moment with my boys earlier this week. arm farts Cassius had just learnt...

Hello Reader, I WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU. Let me know what you think of this newsletter please? News of the Week I had one of those weeks. The kind where life just consumes you. Work demands. Family commitments. Deadlines. The kind of week where every hour gets allocated before you've even had a chance to think... And if I'm honest... One of those weeks where I briefly thought: "Maybe I should just fuckin quit." Not my family. Not my health. But the bigger vision I'm building. The mission. The...
