Time isn't spent. It's invested.

News of the Week

This week reminded me that the greatest investment you can make isn't with your money.

It's with your time.

Work has been demanding lately, My construction project has ramped TF up.

Nadine's workload has been crazy too.

By the end of the day, we're both tired.

The easy option would've been to crash on the couch, scroll our phones, and promise ourselves we'd do better tomorrow.

Instead...

We chose to invest...

One evening we went for a family walk (and my first physio approved run).

Another night we squeezed in a quick 10-minute home workout (modified for my rehab).

We made time for a date night.

Nothing extravagant.

Nothing Instagram-worthy.

Just small, intentional investments into our marriage, our health, and our boys.

And it reminded me of something...

People often talk about the sacrifices required to build a better life.

The sacrifices of getting fit.

The sacrifices of raising a family.

The sacrifices of chasing a dream.

But I don't think that's the right word.

Because if the time you're "giving up" is being invested into something that matters...

It's not a sacrifice.

It's an investment.

Every walk with your kids.

Every workout.

Every conversation with your partner.

Every healthy meal.

Every early night.

You're not losing time.

You're investing it into the person you're becoming and the family you're building.

Most people spend their time.

Scrolling.

Complaining.

Living reactively.

Then they wonder why nothing changes.

Intentional people invest their time.

Because they know today's small deposits become tomorrow's dividends.

That's how stronger bodies are built.

That's how healthier marriages grow.

That's how trust is earned with your kids.

Brick by brick.

Day by day.

Choice by choice.

So here's a question I've been asking myself this week:

Did I spend my time today...

Or did I invest it?

The answer to that question is quietly shaping your future...

Recipe of the Week

CHICKEN LETTUCE WRAPS

Serves 4

3 tbsp. hoisin sauce

2 tbsp. tamari sauce

2 tbsp. rice wine vinegar

1 tbsp. sriracha sauce

1 tsp. toasted sesame oil

1 tbsp. olive oil

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp. freshly grated ginger

1 lb. (450g) ground chicken

2 green onions, thinly sliced

salt & pepper

1 large lettuce (leaves

separated), for serving

6.5 oz. (185g) cooked white

rice, for serving

What you need to do

Place the hoisin sauce, tamari, rice wine vinegar, sriracha sauce,

and sesame oil in a small bowl, whisk together and set aside.

In a large skillet, over a medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add the

onions and cook for 5 minutes until soft, then stir through the garlic

and ginger and cook for a further minute, until fragrant. Now add

the ground chicken and cook the meat until it becomes opaque and

is mostly cooked through, breaking up the meat with a wooden

spoon.

Pour the sauce over the chicken and cook for a further 1-2 minutes,

allowing the sauce to reduce slightly and ensuring the chicken is

cooked through. Turn off the heat and add in the green onions, and

season with salt and pepper.

Spoon the cooked white rice and chicken mixture into the center of

the lettuce leaves. Serve immediately.
